Responsive Website for Elderly Audience

Who is the client? Devon Care Group

About Devon Care Group

A residential care home for elderly people. With over 40 years of running a group of care homes in Devon, this family-run company has a wealth of experience.

Located at various sites across Devon, UK

What were the company's goals for the project?

The client wanted an easy-to-use website that they could update themselves and would be useable by their older-audience. It also needed to rank well on Google so that people searching for care homes in Devon, were referred to their site.

An overview of how we supported Devon Care Group with their new responsive website

We were introduced to the Quality Assurance Manager who was sourcing a local web designer to create a modern, responsive website for the group.

Their existing website was looking tired and didn’t function well - it was not easily findable via Google search and it was not responsive to multiple devices.

Throughout the process, we guided the client towards a website that is usable by, and attractive to, their target market of elderly people and their next of kin sourcing a care home for them. We refined the brand identity to be clearer while retaining the elements existing stakeholders know well.

What were the outcomes?

The project took around three months to complete from beginning to launch. Within a month of the website going live, it had reached 3,000 unique visitors and is growing at a rate of 60% month on month.

Whilst we retained the core brand identity colours, we refined the graphic elements to make it more professional and cleaner to view. Whilst we used existing photography, the responsive layout means that the site offers a better way to view the images of the homes and activities without being overwhelming.

Once completed, we created a bespoke library of user-guide videos that the client can reference to make amendments themselves like changing images or adding new text or documentation.
